Sir Keith in move to shame Coutts over advice on AIG

23.03.09

Sir Keith Mills today launched a full-scale campaign to shame Coutts into offering a compensation package to customers it advised to invest in AIG's disastrous Life Premier Bonds.

Air Miles founder Sir Keith, who claims to have lost millions of pounds of interest on the bonds, wants to force Coutts to say it will guarantee his original investment. He is considering legal action but is keener on shaming Coutts into action by publicising the widespread nature of its alleged bad advice.

He said up to 100 victims of the AIG scandal who had been advised by Coutts had contacted him, three-quarters of whom said they were assured the bonds were a low-risk alternative to a deposit account.

Now he is contacting 500 Coutts clients to find other allegations about bad advice.
