UK signs £559 million naval contract with Babcock

31.03.09

Britain's Ministry of Defence said it had agreed a four-year, £559 million pound contract with Babcock International Group Plc to provide support services to the Royal Navy at Devonport naval base.

The contract, a renewal of an existing agreement, runs to 2013.

The MoD said the deal, under which Babcock provides engineering, logistics, infrastructure and waterfront services for the fleet, would secure hundreds of jobs at Devonport and the wider Plymouth area.
