Cussons cleans up with soap despite crunch

08.04.09

Britons have not allowed the credit crunch to stop them keeping clean, a soap-maker said today.

PZ Cussons, the company behind Imperial Leather and Carex soaps, issued a statement saying that, after a strong third quarter, the outlook for the full year “remains positive” and “in line with expectations despite the global economic downturn”.

It added that UK profit and revenue “continued to grow”.

The firm, which operates in the UK, Nigeria, Australia and Indonesia, expects full-year results, due on 4 June, to be helped by growth in Nigeria, where strong sales of personal care and electrical goods are boosting profits.
