Labour luvvie Gail Rebuck is high on the shortlist to win tomorrow's Businesswoman of the Year award as her daughter is at the centre of a government alleged dirty tricks row.

Gail Rebuck is wife of Tony Blair's poll guru Lord Gould, and is close to many Labour top brass, but it is as chairman and chief executive of publisher Random House that she has been proposed for the coveted Veuve Clicquot award.

Family friend Tessa Jowell stands accused of hinting to party members in Erith and Thameside that their constituency would benefit from Olympics money if they selected Rebuck's daughter Georgia Gould as their Parliamentary candidate.
Rebuck faces competition for the award from Healthcare Locums chief executive Kate Bleasdale.

She is also famed for winning a £2 million sexual harassment case against Match Group.

Other contenders are designer Cath Kidston, Premier Farnell boss Harriet Green and Ruby McGregor Smith, head of support services group Mitie.
