Another boss quits battered EasyJet

Just weeks after losing a boardroom battle with its founder and waving goodbye to its chairman, easyJet today disclosed that another top executive is quitting.

Finance director Jeff Carr is joining First Group, the company behind Thameslink rail services and numerous London bus routes.

EasyJet were clearly unprepared for Carr's departure, saying today that a search for his replacement will "begin immediately".

The budget airline is still reeling from a bust up with founder and 38% shareholder Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

He had claimed the board were moving too quickly to expand in the midst of a recession that has seen airline passenger numbers dive.

Stelios claimed victory recently when the board agreed to pare back its plans.

Shortly afterwards, chairman Sir Colin Chandler said he would leave earlier than expected.

He is to be replaced by BT chairman Sir Michael Rake, who is tasked with repairing relations between Stelios and the rest of the board.

Rake may now also have to oversee the hiring of a new finance boss.
