C&W earnings set to top £1 billion

21 May 2009

Cable & Wireless said that its earnings will top £1 billion in the year to next March, having today reported a 36% rise in earnings to £822 million for the year just ended.

The turnaround of the telecoms group means that 70 top managers will share a £32 million bonus pay-out.

Cable & Wireless chairman Richard Lapthorne reported that the group was "in good health." The dividend payout goes up 13% to 8.5p a share.

Not sure why this company can claim to be in such healthy profit with year after year "exceptional" items. Seems like smoke and mirrors to me.

Also why does anyone look at the "value" created and not realise the share price bombed in 2006. They haven't delivered the £2.18 share price, so really should be getting any bonus at all. It is quite shocking how no one can see this.
