WPP health arm in China stake buy

Sir Martin Sorrell's WPP today bought a 60% stake in MDS, a pharmaceutical agency in China.

The deal adds two branches in Shanghai and Beijing to his healthcare marketing agency Sudler & Hennessey's portfolio of 127 offices in China.

MDS, whose clients include pharma giants Pfizer, Bayer and Schering Plough, employs 50 people. Its revenue in 2008 was 8.8 million yuan (£795,000).
