New search engine Bing sings for Microsoft
18 Jun 2009Microsoft's new internet search engine Bing captured more market share in the United States last week, but still lags far behind its arch-rivals Google and Yahoo.
Bing was only launched two weeks ago, but in that time Microsoft has seen its share of the search market climb from 9.1% to 12.1%.
Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer claimed that Bing is a long-term project.
He said: "We have had some very good initial response. But I don't want to over-set expectations.
"We are going to have to be tenacious and keep up the pace of innovation over a long period of time."
Analysts said that they wanted to see a full month of figures before making a call on the success of Bing.
In May, ahead of the launch, Google had a 65% market share followed by Yahoo with 20% and Microsoft with just 8%.

Where is Microsoft's advertising this revamped search engine? There has been practically none. If Microsoft are going to attempt to catch up with Google then you have to let people know its there which involve marketing the product on the same scale as when Windows was launched.

Bing is still as rubbish as msn was. A waste of time from a 3rd rate search engine, and it looks like it will remain trash and third.
