Toyota hybrid cars to be made in UK

17 Jul 2009

Japanese carmaker Toyota will start making a hybrid model of its Auris hatchback in the UK from the middle of next year.

The car will be produced at Toyota's Burnaston plant in Derbyshire, using engines made in Deeside, Flintshire.

Hybrid versions of other Toyota models are already made in the US and Japan. Toyota has targeted the hybrid market, as interest in greener cars has grown.
