Bischoff news fails to inspire Lloyds

28.07.09

Lloyds Banking Group shares rose just 1.5% on news that veteran banker Win Bischoff is to take over as chairman from Sir Victor Blank in September.

The appointment, which has been the worst-kept secret in the City for weeks, was cautiously welcomed by analysts.

Bischoff, 67, is a former chairman of Citigroup and comes less than untarnished by the US bank's troubles. Lloyds shares were 1.37p higher at 84.66p.
