BAE lands £370m torpedoes deal

Weapons maker BAE Systems today won a 10-year contract worth £370 million to develop torpedoes for Britain's Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
BAE said the deal will help to secure 120 jobs at a plant in Portsmouth. The contract covers heavyweight, submarine-launched Spearfish torpedoes and lightweight Sting Ray anti-submarine torpedoes carried aboard ships, helicopters and aircraft.
