GM board to decide on Vauxhall’s future

Vauxhall workers in Luton and Merseyside could learn their fate today when the General Motors board meets to decide which of two bids to accept for its European arm Opel.

A joint bid from Canadian car parts maker Magna and Russian bank Sberbank is favourite because it has backing from the German government, which is offering €4.5 billion (£3.89 billion) of finance.
