Country estates start to recover

28.09.09

Country house prices have risen for the first time in two years according to a leading estate agent.

Knight Frank said prices rose by 0.8% across the UK in the last three months — the first rise since autumn 2007 — with properties located in the Home Counties leading the charge showing a 2.1% rise.

Farmhouses selling for an average £1.1 million lead the recovery with a 1.4% rise with cottages (up 0.7%) and manor Houses (up 0.3%) following.
But on an annualised basis prices are still 13.4% down on a year ago and remain 20% below their peak levels in 2007.
