Carphone makes a Ł51m buy in France

Carphone Warehouse today ramped up its operations in France with the acquisition of Tele2 Mobile France by its Virgin Mobile France venture. Virgin Mobile France, 48.5%-owned by Carphone, agreed to buy Tele2 for 56 million (Ł51 million) to add customers and cut operating costs.Carphone said Tele2's 385,000 customers would take Virgin Mobile France's total past 1.6 million.
