Carphone makes a £51m buy in France

Carphone Warehouse today ramped up its operations in France with the acquisition of Tele2 Mobile France by its Virgin Mobile France venture. Virgin Mobile France, 48.5%-owned by Carphone, agreed to buy Tele2 for 56 million (£51 million) to add customers and cut operating costs.Carphone said Tele2's 385,000 customers would take Virgin Mobile France's total past 1.6 million.
