Shelved: Pinewood's plans have been rejected

Pinewood’s homes out of the picture

22 Oct 2009

Film studios group Pinewood Shepperton has had its planning application for a £200 million “living film sets” expansion turned down by the local council.

It claimed it had expected the decision to go against it today and said it would review the reasons before looking to appeal to the Environment Secretary.

The scheme would see 1400 homes created around permanent sets.

This is good news, this is just a means of Pinewood Studios lining there pockets by property developing.

This is magnificent news for London and British film making. Gisela Stuart MP in Birmingham is putting together a package too good for Pinewood Shepperton PLC to relocate the expansion BUT BIGGER, BOLDER, MUCH MORE PROFITABLE, to the 400 acre Longbridge MG Rover Plant. Other west Midland MPs are in support and offering sister sites in the West Midlands and Black Country for further future expansions. Save The British Film Industry has campaigned for a 15 acre film factory site (with sound stage, editing, post-production etc) as a minimum in every county in the UK, preferably all called Pinewood Studios to make the company and brand as visible, as loved, as financially safe as the NHS in Britain. The biggest expansion is in the centre of The UK, The Wst Midlands, but every county gets a slice of the action. Iver Heath remains Pinewood Studios HQ but with much more capacity and finance. Pinewood Studios can now build Berlin, the Pyramids, Sci-Fi sets, Rio di Janiro, Washington, Mumbai, Beijing, Lagos, whatever is most in demand to attract TV and film finance from all over the world to make films and TV in EVERY language.
It can combine with The Royal Shakespeare Company brand in nearby Stratford-on-Avon. Even with nearby giant Cadburys (right by Longbridge). This will empower pinewood studios to grow bigger than Coca Cola, McDonalds, Disney. They can build all the theme parks and homes they want in The West Midlands. Jonathan Stuart-Brown
