Carpetright rallying with a spurt in sales

Shares in retailer Carpetright ran 17.5p higher at 917.5p today after it revealed a jump in sales in the past 12 weeks and said it expected first half profits to beat City forecasts.

Sales in the 12 weeks to 24 October were 10.3% better than in the corresponding period of 2008.

Lord Harris of Peckham, chairman and chief executive, said: “We continue to take advantage of opportunities.”
