Harold Tillman, the owner of Jaeger and Aquascutum and chair of the British Fashion Council, today called for tax breaks for Britain's £175 million ethical-fashion industry.
Tillman said incentivising eco-friendly design would “make sense for businesses and consumers” across the fashion sector, which is the UK's second-biggest employer.
He said: “We are calling on all parties to recognise the impact tax breaks could make by making it attractive to all businesses to be more ethical.
“If UK citizens can get tax breaks on energy-efficient cars and other sustainable products, why can't they wear their values with pride and get tax breaks on ethical fashion?”
