My ride to work: Kentish Town to Camden town hall

Route: Kentish Town to Camden's town hall in Judd Street via St Pancras.

Distance: Two and a half miles.

Weather: I think the key to cycling in London is having the right kit — I find pretty much any weather conditions bearable if you're prepared.

Badly behaved drivers: It's astonishing how many cars will cut you up on Royal College Street. Many take that junction far too fast and overtake where it's too narrow.

Pedestrians: I cross Camden Road, where there are still no pedestrian crossings in either direction, which can often cause problems.

Distractions: Camley Street is always astonishingly quiet and it passes the nature park before crossing Goods Way into Pancras Road, between the simply breathtaking new St Pancras and what will be the exciting new western ticket hall of King's Cross by the Great Northern Hotel.

Time taken: 12 minutes every day — unlike motorists, I know exactly how long the journey will take and plan accordingly.
