Barclays buys Expobank and calendar girls
Evening Standard 3 Mar 2008Barclays today spiced up its image when it agreed to buy a Russian bank whose staff have posed for a saucy 2008 calendar.
Barclays struck a £373 million deal for its Moscow-based rival, Expobank, as it looks to expand in emerging markets. However, the calendar featuring scantily-clad women employees ranging from secretaries to senior executives and top economists, will raise eyebrows in the City.
Asked to explain the calendar, Expobank said: "We wanted to make a pleasant surprise for our clients."

No doubt the directors at Barclays are well pleased with themselves as a result of this acquisition however . . .
What the average Barclays' customer wants is:-
[1] better interest rates and
[2] a decent level of customer service!
I doubt very much whether Barclays will be transferring any of these "scantily-clad women employees ranging from secretaries to senior executives and top economists" TO LONDON so, what's the big deal?
