The Olympics have been presented as a great opportunity for London to show its best face to the world in 2012.
But since the Games were awarded to Britain, worries over spiralling costs have caused more people to doubt whether the event will benefit the capital.
On the eve of the Beijing games, our next debate will explore whether the Olympics really are good for London - and all of us who live and work here.
Our panel includes Tessa Jowell, Kate Hoey, Andrew Gilligan and Will Self. The debate will be chaired by Anne McElvoy.
