House rules
25 Feb 2010The House rules are a set of rules that will help ensure the standard.co.uk community remains a safe and welcoming community for everyone who participates.
They outline what is deemed unacceptable behaviour and it is important to read them carefully. Reading and posting messages to standard.co.uk constitutes acceptance of these rules.
Discussions on reader comments and message boards that violate these rules may be removed and we reserve the right to suspend or ban members who contravene these rules.
The House rules are:
* Do not post a comment that is negative remark about another member. Personal insults are strictly not allowed.
* Do not post comments which are likely to incite religious or racial intolerance of any sort.
* Libellous comments are not allowed.
* Do not post anything relating to any ongoing or pending trial as doing so may be in Contempt of Court.
* Crude or explicit sexual references are not allowed.
* Do not post material that is protected by copyright.
* Do not advertise or solicit or ramp shares.
* Links to, or URLs of, other websites are not allowed
* Profanity is not permitted.
* Posts containing languages other than English may be removed.
* Do not impersonate other members, particularly a member of staff or a Community Host.
* Discussion of suspended/banned members is not allowed.
* Posts actively soliciting sponsorship or linking to online petitions may be removed.
* Our reader comments and message boards are not to be used to trace the whereabouts of people.
Breaking these rules, failing to respect the spirit and tone of the community or postings/emails which demand a disproportionate amount of time and moderation by the Community Team, may result in an account suspension or, in extreme cases, a permanent ban. We reserve the right to edit/remove any post.
Suspended / banned users are not allowed to post to our message boards or reader comments on Standard.co.uk or Associated Newspapers websites (metro.co.uk, thisismoney.co.uk, dailymail.co.uk, mailonsunday.co.uk). If you post during a suspension or ban, we reserve the right to contact your Internet Service Provider or employer.
Finally, we strongly support all members of standard.co.uk community in enforcing and maintaining high standards of participation. Should you feel that members are violating these standards, please click on the 'Report this post to moderator' link beneath the post in question to let us know.
