Tottenham close in on £4.5m deal for Kameni

Spurs manager Juande Ramos has made Kameni his top target to replace Paul Robinson in the summer and appears to have won the race for his signature.
The 24-year-old has a release clause in his current contract triggered by a £4.5m fee, but Espanyol tried to fight off Ramos's interest by opening talks over a new contract as Kameni's current deal runs out in 2010. However, the keeper has set his heart on a move to north London.
Sporting director Paco Herrera is understood to have reluctantly agreed to Kameni's wish but was keen to keep the deal under wraps with the club still having a chance of qualifying for the Champions League this season.
Ramos has had him watched several times since taking over in October and is believed to have had a scout at Espanyol's 2-0 win over Valencia at the weekend.
The former Sevilla coach is determined to buy a new keeper despite handing Robinson a reprieve in the last few games.
Robinson, who was left out for 10 matches, has played better since being recalled for the UEFA Cup match against Slavia Prague last month and also helped the club beat Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final. However, Ramos feels he doesn't dominate his penalty area enough.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson have recovered from ankle and hamstring injuries respectively to face PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Cup on Thursday, but Ledley King is still struggling to return.
