Kelly attacks 'wrong sums on buses'
Pippa Crerar, Political Correspondent12 Mar 2008
Ruth Kelly has weighed into the London mayoral campaign with an attack on Boris Johnson's bus policy.
The Transport Secretary said he had "extraordinarily underestimated" his figures for replacing bendy buses.
Mr Johnson claimed it would cost £8 million a year to bring back Routemasters with conductors. But Ken Livingstone claims it would cost nearer £108 million.
Ms Kelly said: "The Tories promised extra unfunded billions for health but won't say how much transport funding they will cut to pay for it. Boris Johnson's got it wrong and it's time for him to come clean."
As well as pledging to scrap bendy buses Mr Johnson pledged to pay more police officers to patrol bus and rail stations.

With friend like Ruth Kelly, who need enemies! Can anyone tell me anything good that she has done for Britain? It is interesting that even the Labour party is focussing on attempts to discredit the opposition instead of offering new ideas and solutions to London's myriad problems. Emission Free Zone? Idea Free Zone, more like!
