Mayor

Greens back Square demos

Green mayoral candidate Sian Berry today pledged to restore the right to protest in Parliament Square.

She promised to press ministers to repeal the "idiotic" rules that restrict demonstrations.

On the first official day of campaigning, Ms Berry also unveiled plans to pedestrianise one side of the square.

She said: "Frankly I'm embarrassed that the centre of my city is subject to these idiotic and illiberal laws and I'll make it my job to force the Government to change them."

Good one Sian

It's high time we put up a barricade on the road of civil liberties restrictions that this country is being dragged down. Who'd have thought that the Greens would be about more than the environment?
