Boris pushes for cheaper petrol and more lavatories

Boris Johnson today vowed to help Londoners beat the credit crunch by lobbying energy companies for social tariffs for the poorest customers and to urge petrol companies to reflect profits in pricing at petrol station.
The Mayor promised a more civilised city and called an end to unnecessary "petty rules" or "minor inconveniences" that irritate people.
He also said he would urge shops and restaurants to open up their lavatories for all those aged over 60.
Speaking at a summit of all London Councils, Mr Johnson said: "London is a fantastic city and I am hugely honoured to be its Mayor. But we can't deny that life here can be tough. That's partly because we're living in challenging economic times.
"As the cost of food, fuel and other necessities rises, more people are feeling the pinch. As Mayor there is little I can do to directly influence our economy, but I can use the bully pulpit to urge the bodies responsible to exercise a little compassion."

My god, is he left wing? Asking multinationals to do something for "poor" Londoners, what will he think up next?
Means testing at the pump would be interesting, I mean, we would have to look at the type of car they were driving and decide who was poor or not.
