Chicken breakfast traps last 2012 cat

The last wild cat on the 2012 Olympic site has been caught.

Former model Celia Hammond had saved 186 cats living on the site in Stratford from the bulldozers but a black tom had eluded her for months.

In May, she was told to leave the site so builders could start work, but she did not give up on finding "Blackjack". She said: "We threw a ring of feed sites around [the site], hoping one might lure him off."

Finally a furniture factory worker called the Celia Hammond Animal Trust to say he had seen Blackjack in an alley on the site's western edge.

Ms Hammond and her assistants then set a trap and spent three weeks watching from a van, holding a length of twine ready to spring it.

At 4am, Blackjack was lured in by a roast chicken and the trap was sprung. He is now being tamed at the trust's sanctuary in Canning Town.

Ms Hammond said: "We will put him with a family without children. He just needs a nice quiet home."
