Bromley High School GDST

Pool used by state sector during school day. Netball, tennis courts, all-weather pitch, sports hall, gym, playing fields used in evenings and on Saturdays. Facilities used 10 hours a week by four schools for free.

Alleyn's School, Dulwich

Sports hall, pool, gym, all-weather pitch, fields and equipment such as hockey sticks and footballs available at weekends, holidays and evenings, for 20 to 30 hours a week. Most groups using facilities for free are local young people and schools.

King's College School, Wimbledon

Has all-weather pitches, pool, tennis courts – state schools use pool for swimming assessments; KCS boys coach state pupils in football, rugby and tennis; pitches used by groups at evenings and weekends. Greenhouse Project for disadvantaged children uses facilities in summer.

Dulwich College

Pool, all-weather pitches, running track, fields, sports hall used by state schools for between five and 10 hours a week. Charges are levied to cover running costs – eg £41 per hour for the pool, and a charge for floodlights on all-weather pitch. Other facilities, such as fields, are free.

Harrow School

Soccer, athletics, all-weather pitch, pool, sports hall available mornings and evenings, used by state pupils for 10 hours per week. Charges to “cover our expenses”.

North London Collegiate School, Edgware

Pool, fields and other facilities available weekday evenings. Pool used two-and-a-half hours a week free by nearby state school. North London Collegiate's sports centre is open to local paying members.

Wimbledon High School GDST

Hall and pool used by sports clubs for under-11s in the evenings, during holidays and weekends. Fields not available out of hours due to planning restriction. Local club use for 14 to 15 hours a week. During holidays, facilities used up to 40 hours per week. Charges are “extremely low”.

St Paul's Girls' School, Brook Green

Sports hall, pool, fields available during and after school day and during holidays. Hall and fields available for free two hours a week. Pool used six hours a week at a typical charge of £31 for a one-and-a-half hour session. One school uses pool for free, three schools pay.

The Lady Eleanor Holles School, Hampton

Pool, hall, tennis and netball courts, athletics tracks, fields available. Facilities used about four hours a week by schools and 10 to15 hours a week by local clubs. Costs vary. Free or discounted rates for state schools; pool hire is £72 an hour.

Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood

Offers “discounted rates for schools and youth clubs” to use all-weather floodlit pitch, sports hall, pool, cricket pitches, badminton courts, athletics track and fields. Facilities available evenings, weekends and holidays.

Haberdashers' Aske's School for Girls, Elstree

No use of facilities by state schools because it is too far for them to come. Local badminton, netball, trampolining and gym clubs use the facilities “most evenings”. “Nominal charges” apply.

Haberdashers' Aske's Boys', Elstree

Pool, sports hall, cricket nets, all-weather pitches used by local clubs and youth teams weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays, for 10 hours per week. Pool hire to clubs is £500 per week. No use specifically by state schools.

Sir William Perkins's School, Chertsey

All-weather pitch hired to football club, including local children, in the evenings for one-and-a-half hours a week. Cost is £45.

City of London School For Girls, Barbican

Indoor pool, gym, all-weather pitch on site at the Barbican are not used at all by state schools. Private company occasionally hires all-weather pitch for football.

You might have considered Latymer Upper School in your survey, as it would compare very favourably indeed with some of the schools you selected.
