St Benedict's face tough test against Wellington College

19.03.08

Two of the leading Standard super 1st XV teams are to fight it out for honours at Twickenham.

St Benedict's of Ealing, top of our new league since day one, and Wellington College, currently fifth, will meet in the Daily Mail Cup final on 2 April.

The winner can claim to be the top British school team, with the match illustrating the strength of rugby in the Standard league.

St Benedict's will be favourites, as Wellington coach Graham Owton concedes, after winning plaudits for their exciting brand of 15-man rugby over the last two years.

But their rivals from Berkshire boast fine forwards and two England colts in Sam Edgerley and Guy Armitage, who were both instrumental in Saturday's win over holders Warwick.
