John Terry
Back to his best: John Terry

Grant: JT is the man for Fabio

Avram Grant today insisted John Terry is the best man to captain England.

Terry is back to his best after suffering from various injury problems over the past 12 months and Grant believes his timing couldn't be better for club or country.

Chelsea travel to Spurs tonight, and Fabio Capello is set to be in the stands at White Hart Lane ahead of naming a 30-man squad tomorrow for next week's trip to Paris.

Grant said: "I think England needs him more than he needs England. Of course he wants to play for England, but they won't find a captain like him any day."

It also is expected that Arsenal's Theo Walcott will earn a surprise recall after he was left out of the under-21 party named by Stuart Pearce for the friendly against Poland at Molineux, along with Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor and Tottenham's Aaron Lennon.

Pearce said: "I'm not suggesting they've been left out just to be left out but I'm also not suggesting one or two faces might turn up in Fabio's squad, that's down to him."
