Epsom's late charge

Evening Standard   25 Mar 2008

Epsom have staked a claim to the Standard 1st XV super league team of the year award.

The college, who are currently in second place behind unbeaten St Benedict's, have played some top-level rugby and produced three players for the Harlequins academy.

Deprived of their top players for the Daily Mail Cup, they made good progress and were beaten narrowly by the team Bennies meet in the final, Wellington College. Big wins over Tonbridge and Merchant Taylors prove how far the one-term team progressed since starting off as an average team in the first year.

The team of the year will be chosen after the cup final at Twickenham on 2 April.
