Making progress: Brentford have improved since Andy Scott took over as manager

Scott delighted with his scrap merchants

Evening Standard   25 Mar 2008

Andy Scott hailed his Brentford side's spirit after they came back from behind to secure a 2-1 victory at Grimsby.

Wayne Brown, on loan from Fulham, drilled home the winner with eight minutes left to leave the visitors five points off a play-off spot.

Manager Scott said: "I had been looking for us to go away and get a difficult win. We have been anchored in 12th place and I want us to finish in the top 10. This shows good character."

Danny North gave Grimsby a 19th-minute lead with a glancing header, while Nathan Elder twice came close to a leveller for Brentford. Alan Connell eventually forced the first goal for the visitors as he nodded home a cross by Craig Pead six minutes into the second half.

Brentford have shown great improvement since Scott took over from former manager Terry Butcher.

Scott said: "These players are great learners and it's a pleasure to coach them. We have Terry Bullivant here working as a coach now, and he will help to make this an enjoyable club for everyone to play for."
