West Ham reacted angrily today to suggestions from Chelsea that they will not be trying at Manchester United tomorrow.

The Hammers play at lunchtime, with the champions and Chelsea level on points at the top of the table. Avram Grant's team do not play until Monday when they visit Newcastle, and the Israeli is worried that he will have a three-point deficit to make up at St James' Park.

The Blues boss is not happy that Alan Curbishley said in a recent newspaper column that "it would be a great injustice if Manchester United were to lose the Premier League title".

But former Chelsea star Scott Parker, now at West Ham, told Standard Sport today that questioning his manager's integrity was out of order.

He said: "We're certainly not going to roll over. We're professional footballers and we take pride in what we do. We have to try to take something out of the game for ourselves."

Curbishley admitted yesterday that "the world will be watching and we've got to put in a performance" but his close relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson has clearly rattled Grant.

West Ham are five points ahead of Spurs in 10th place with two games left and have beaten United on each of their last three matches.

The players are on added bonuses to finish in the top 10, and Parker insisted: "We can't get involved or even spend too much time looking at what the game means for Manchester United."
