Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez today warned the Premier League that Fernando Torres will get even better next season.

The striker, 24, equalled Roger Hunt's 46-year record of scoring in eight consecutive home League games when he struck in Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City.

It was the Spain international's 32nd goal in all competitions, a remarkable feat in his debut season at Anfield following a £26.5million move from Atletico Madrid.

Benitez now expects Torres to show there is even more to his game next term.

"Fernando has been amazing and has reached the total without penalties," said Benitez. "But it will be more difficult next season as defenders will have watched him and will work on stopping him.

"However, he can improve from this and has a strong mentality and can cope with what defenders do."
