Lee refuses to throw in the towel

Evening Standard   12 May 2008

Richard Lee today insisted that Watford can still rescue their Premier League dream despite their play-off semi-final first-leg horror show at Vicarage Road.

Watford face a massive task to secure a Championship play-off final place at Wembley after Hull veterans Nicky Barmby and Dean Windass scored in a 2-0 win.

Watford have only won once in their past 15 matches but, with 10 wins away from home this season, goalkeeper Lee is refusing to throw in the towel.

He said: "The gaffer came in after the game and told us that going there and scoring two goals isn't insurmountable and we know that.

"Hull have done it here and we all know what our away form is like. Our form on our travels should give us loads of confidence that it's not all over yet. We're still confident."

Barmby struck after eight minutes and then Windass headed a second - while Hull keeper Boaz Myhill pulled off magnificent saves from Jobi McAnuff, Tommy Smith and Matt Sadler.
