Jose Mourinho will set sights on Frank Lampard for Inter Milan

Frank Lampard will be top of Inter Milan's wanted list if Jose Mourinho takes over as the Italian club's new manager.

Mourinho is almost certain to sign a three-year contract worth about £7million per season, and speculation in Italy suggests Lampard and Barcelona midfielder Deco will be his top transfer targets.

Following the sacking of Roberto Mancini yesterday, who is now among the favourites to take over at Chelsea, Mourinho was said to be in a secret location in Milan last night ahead of a meeting with Inter president Massimo Moratti.

Even though he led Inter to a third consecutive Serie A title earlier this month, Mancini's departure came as no surprise in Italy, although his agent Giorgio De Giorgis claimed: "Roberto did not expect this.

"Now Mourinho will arrive at Inter, and he will have to repeat what has been done in the last few years.

"Roberto did not believe his work was done. He could have won more league titles, maybe even the Champions League.

"Roberto is a good person, so he has never offered himself to another club. He has just continued to do his work. Maybe he will have a longer holiday, but I hope another club calls him today."

Mancini, 43, is just one of a host of potential candidates that Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon is mulling over.

Former Chelsea forward Mark Hughes, Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, Russian boss Guus Hiddink and former Barcelona chief Frank Rijkaard have all been linked with the vacant position.

However, one candidate who has ruled himself out of the race is former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

The 43-year-old is set to join Bayern Munich this summer but Chelsea insiders made an enquiry to see if there were any loopholes in his pre-contract to allow him to change his mind and sign for the Blues.

But Klinsmann rejected the approach and said he was committed to taking over at the Allianz Arena.

Meanwhile, Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has revealed the head injury he suffered in a collision with Reading's Stephen Hunt in October 2006 has left him needing contact lenses.

Cech, 26, said: "Getting the lenses was probably the best moment of the season for me. I can now see 100 per cent better."
