Debut: tour is Wasps scrum-half Eoin Reddan's first trip to New Zealand

Reddan's biggest test

04.06.08

Playing well against the All Blacks will mean nothing to Eoin Reddan if Ireland lose Saturday's Test in Wellington.

The Wasps scrum-half is on his first trip to New Zealand, after missing games in Hamilton and Auckland in 2006 because of a groin injury. Ireland came close on both occasions but came unstuck only in the final 10 minutes. Now Reddan is hoping the Irish can go the whole way.

The 27-year-old half-back said: "Performance is a measure of success, but there is no measure of success like winning. That's why the trophies and the leagues are there in the first place.

"Everything is based on winning and losing, so for us to get a measure of where we're at will be to win."

The Irish have never beaten New Zealand in 20 attempts, but their starting line-up includes seven members of the Munster pack who won the Heineken Cup and four of the Leinster backs who won the Celtic League.

Reddan said: "We've got a team full of individual belief, and it's about getting a collective belief now. This is going to be a massive game of rugby."
