Pothas slams India 'bullies' in rebel row
Evening Standard 10 Jun 2008Hampshire wicketkeeper Nic Pothas today labelled India's cricket officials as "bullies" following the threat to ban teams from this year's £2.5million Champions League unless they toe the line over 'rebel' players.
With England's Twenty20 Cup starting tomorrow, 15 counties must decide whether to field their Indian Cricket League players after a warning from Indian Premier League boss Lalit Modi.
"Any ICL player playing for any team automatically disqualifies that team from taking part [in the Champions League]," said Modi.
Pothas, who played in the 'unofficial' ICL earlier this year and intends to return for another stint in October, said: "My experience of India is that they are bullies. The International Cricket Council can say what they want, but India run world cricket."
Johannesburg-born Pothas, who will captain Hampshire during their Twenty20 campaign, added: "It's the most hypocritical situation you could imagine. I've no idea what the rules are but Indians can change rules from one day to the next, and as they like."

please tell me which team has benefited most from creation of ILC and IPL. well let me make an educated guess. India. They have become stronger and teams like NZ and PAK are now weaker. the PCB and NZB should stand up to the BCCI and inept ICC and play the ICL players - and if other teams refuse to play them. well they should play each other. no one crickt board should be a dictator - but im sorry enough is enough - no one likes bullies.
