Prop target: Sheridan can expect some All Black attention

Sheridan is target for All Blacks

England prop Andrew Sheridan will be targeted for special attention by the All Blacks in Auckland on Saturday.

Defeats for Wales, Ireland and Scotland south of the equator leave England as the only major Home Union nation still to be turned over this summer and New Zealand forwards coach Steve Hansen believes attacking Sheridan is the key to another win.

Hansen said: "Sheridan is a very good rugby player. When he plays well and scrums well, England play well. He's a strength and the old adage that you attack a team's strengths is a true one.

"For us to play well we're going to have to attack Sheridan and make sure we dominate their scrum."

However, All Blacks coach Graham Henry believes that despite England manager Martin Johnson not being in New Zealand, the former captain will still have a massive influence on the game.

"I was very impressed with what he brings to a team when I coached him on the Lions tour in 2001," said Henry. "I'm sure the players will play for him.

"They'll be aware he's viewing these Test matches from afar and that will be a motivating factor. "We know we've got a major challenge this week. It's a very good England team."
