Clear out: Spurs have been looking at replacements for Paul Robinson for the past six months

Tottenham set to sign £10m PSV goalkeeper

Tottenham hope to finally end their search for a new goalkeeper this week by securing a £10million deal with PSV Eindhoven for Heurelho Gomes.

Spurs head coach Juande Ramos has been looking at candidates to replace Paul Robinson for the past six months and has decided to go for Gomes.

Standard Sport understands the two clubs are close to agreeing a fee and Tottenham hope to soon be given permission to talk personal terms with the Brazilian.

The 27-year-old has been one of many names on Tottenham's shortlist, but he made a big impression when he helped knock Spurs out of the UEFA Cup in March.

He fell out with PSV Eindhoven earlier in the season and asked for a transfer after they clinched the Dutch title.

Tottenham's hopes of signing David Bentley have also moved a step closer after Paul Ince was named the new boss of Blackburn.

Spurs are favourites to sign the winger as he wants to return to London and is a fan of the club, but talks had to be put on hold until a new boss was appointed at Ewood Park.
