Cara's call for cricket
30 Jun 2008Cara Black of Zimbabwe the defending ladies' doubles champion at Wimbledon with America's Liezel Huber, has urged this week's meeting of the International Cricket Council not to expel her country's team.
London-based Black who believes there should be a clear division between sports and politics, said: "It's not fair that the athletes suffer. They've just got to wait and I'm sure things will pan out okay."
The 29-year-old winner of four Wimbledon doubles titles admitted she was concerned about the situation in her home country.
She said: "It's all over the news so I think everybody is aware what's going on and players do ask me. We've just got to bide a little more time. The world seems to be caring more."
