Justine Henin: shocked the tennis world by announcing her retirement earlier this year

Henin isn't ruling out a comeback

Justine Henin, who shocked the tennis world by retiring just 10 days before the defence of her French Open title, has left the way open for a possible return to the sport.

Henin was the undisputed World No1 when she quit in May, citing a lack of desire to continue travelling the world chasing titles and ranking points.

The Belgian told laureus.com: "I can never say for sure that I'll never be back because I hate to say never. But when I do something, I do it 200 per cent and when I decide it's over, it's over.

"I didn't have this fire inside me any more - and when you don't have the fire, it's time to go."

Henin admits that not winning Wimbledon, despite claiming seven Grand Slam titles, remains a target - if she ever did return.

"Not winning Wimbledon has been the big disappointment of my career," said the 26-year-old, who twice reached the final at SW19, losing to Venus Williams in 2001 and then Amelie Mauresmo in 2006.

"It's a great tradition - I love it - but my game wasn't quite good enough and I probably wasn't confident enough to win on the grass."
