Massa speeds up his nightmare recovery

11 Jul 2008

Felipe Massa is confident he will put his Silverstone nightmare behind him at next week's German Grand Prix.

Massa concluded the three-day test session yesterday at Hockenheim, venue for the race, with the best time of the day.

The Brazilian, who endured a wretched British Grand Prix on Sunday as he spun five times in his Ferrari and trailed home last of the 13 finishers, was relieved to have completed 109 trouble-free laps.

"It was a good day's work," said Massa, whose lap of one minute 14.989sec was just 0.117 seconds slower than the week's quickest time set by Britain's Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren on Wednesday.

"We did a lot of kilometres and I have to say the car felt well balanced," said Massa. "This can only mean we should also be competitive at this track, which is also the case for our main rivals."

Jenson Button provided Honda with hope they could have a reasonable weekend with the second fastest time.

Heikki Kovalainen was third in his McLaren, followed by the Red Bull of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel for Toro Rosso.
