Samir Nasri joined Arsenal today and revealed that Arsene Wenger's reputation for developing talent and the team's slick style of play convinced him to make the move.

The France midfielder, 21, finally completed his transfer from Marseille on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee, thought to be £12million.

In his first interview as a Gunner, Nasri said: "This is a very important step in my career because Arsenal are a massive club.

"The fact Arsene Wenger gives great opportunities to young players is very important for me. He is one of the best managers in the world and has proved that he puts a lot of confidence in the young players and he gives them a chance."

Nasri believes Arsenal's approach will bring the best out of his game.

"I like offensive, technical and quick football, exactly in the style of Arsenal," he said.

"In my opinion they produced the best football in Europe last season. The team's philosophy makes it so great for me to be joining the club."

Nasri also revealed that his international team-mates Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira, had urged him to join their former club. "They had amazing times here and even talking to them now, they are still enthusiastic about Arsenal," said Nasri.

"They told me that it was the best choice for me to come to Arsenal."

Arsenal boss Wenger has high hopes for the player, who made two appearances at Euro 2008.

"Samir is young, quick and technically an outstanding player," said Wenger. "He has shown great potential and will add quality to our squad."

While Samir has arrived, Alexander Hleb is poised to leave for Barcelona in a £15m move. If the deal goes through Barcelona are set to end their interest in Andrei Arshavin, leaving Arsenal and Chelsea to battle it out for the Zenit St Petersburg forward.
