Andy Murray returns to tennis action in the Toronto Masters this week having taken time off following his Wimbledon exploits

The tournament signals the start of British No1's build-up to the US Open, which begins in New York on 25 August and offers him the chance to prove he can be a real contender on hard courts. He is, after all, a former winner of the US Open boys' title.

Murray, who will represent his country alongside brother Jamie at the Beijing Olympics next month, is seeded eight in Toronto and has a bye through to the second round in which he will play the winner of a match between two qualifiers.

But while success in Toronto is his immediate aim, Murray is already looking forward to next month's trip to Beijing.

He said: "It's a great honour to be selected to represent my country in the biggest sporting event in the world and to have the chance to team up with my brother makes it even more special."

The Toronto event also sees Nadal and Federer back on court for the first time since their amazing Wimbledon final, which the Spaniard won in five sets.

Nadal is in the same half of the draw as defending champion Novak Djokovic.
