Terror fears don't put ICC off Pakistan

24.07.08

England players could be among those to boycott September's Champions Trophy after the International Cricket Council today decided against moving the two-week event from Pakistan despite security concerns.

Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds, for example, has said he definitely won't travel. New Zealand all-rounder Jacob Oram has also expressed concerns about touring the country, while the England Cricket Board recently indicated it could not guarantee sending a full-strength team.

But ICC members, who discussed the issue during a teleconference today, have decided the event should go ahead as scheduled with games in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Australia, New Zealand and England all spoke in favour of moving the tournament but no actual vote was taken.
