Chris Wood, who finished equal fifth in The Open at Royal Birkdale as an amateur, will make his professional golf debut in the SAS Masters, which starts in Stockholm on 14 August.

"With his recent success at Birkdale and all the hype surrounding his professional debut, we're thrilled to invite Chris to play here," said Fredrik Nilsmark, managing director of the SAS Masters.

The 20-year-old from Bristol has to rely on invitations for the rest of the year. His aim is to emulate the success of last year's Open Championship silver medal winner, Rory McIlroy, and earn enough money from European Tour events over the next three months to earn his card for the 2009 season and avoid having to take part in the qualifying school tournament in November.
