Durham wrapped up victory against Kent this morning in an extraordinary County Championship clash at the Riverside which saw 40 wickets fall in just over two days.

With Kent resuming on 116 for eight overnight and chasing an improbable victory target of 176, Mark Davies quickly struck for the home side when removing Martin van Jaarsfield (53).

The wicket completed 10 in the match for the right-arm seamer, who took five for 21 in the first innings and conceded just 45 runs overall.

Callum Thorp then sealed Durham's 43-run victory when dismissing Martin Saggers for a second-ball duck as Kent were all out for 133.

Despite the tumbling of wickets at the Riverside, Durham last night escaped punishment from an England and Wales Cricket Board panel when they decided to take no action over the state of the pitch.
