Wanted man: Klass-Jan Huntelaar is top of Spurs' list of targets

Spurs get £16m Pav, now for Huntelaar

Tottenham will turn their attentions to signing Dutch striker Klass-Jan Huntelaar once they have secured the transfer of Spartak Moscow's Roman Pavlyuchenko.

Spurs agreed a deal worth around £16million with the Russian club last night and are determined to add at least one more forward - with the Ajax international top of their list - before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

Pavlyuchenko has been on Tottenham's wanted list throughout the summer and the Russia star has pulled out of Spartak Moscow's Champions League qualifier with Dynamo Kiev to finalise the switch.

It is understood Spurs officials are in Moscow to continue talks over personal terms, although it is believed the 26-year-old has already accepted a deal worth £30,000 a week after tax.

The club's general director, Valery Karpin, said: "We were obliged to tell the player about interest from a leading English side. An offer like that might come along once or twice in a lifetime."

Pavlyuchenko, who only 24 hours ago said he didn't want to go to White Hart Lane, claims he will soon travel to London to complete the transfer.

He said: "I shall be granted a visa now and, I'll go to England for the signing of the contract."

But Spurs insist the deal is still a long way from completion since the player must pass a medical on his troublesome knee.

Spurs are adamant that the Russian is not a replacement for Dimitar Berbatov, who is desperate to join Manchester United.

The club are also making a major push for Huntelaar and haven't given up on Zenit St Petersburg's Andrei Arshavin and Vedran Corluka from Manchester City.

"must pass a medical on his troublesome knee." Why are they wasting their time with someone who won't be able to cope with hard-tackling premiership! And who the hell is Huntelaar?! Lucky if we stay up this season!

Why all the big talk about how much Spurs have spent as we have recouped more than what we have spent, so all about Levy giving Ramos a huge budget is.

Kaboul would have become a great player, if Ramos did not sell him cheaply like we sold the poor Defoe, he was a Yid down to the soles of his feet and we mugged him off.
Keane went because of the troubles brewing at the lane.

I was at the game when we sacked Jol, what a shame he went, Spurs are again in turmoil and we have Chelski next up, lets hope we beat them and kick start the season.
Atleast the Goooners have not faired to much better this season either.
Come on the YIDS

I just wish we could sort out all the politics and concentrate on playing football. Or before we know it we will be chasing a top ten finish from the bottom again!

We should never have sold Defoe! Even Mido would have been useful now, he's in top form, we keep letting our best players go we did it with Carrick and it cost us!
I think we are now just a feeder club to Man U.
We should do the same with Berba what Fergie has done with Ronaldo and if he wants to Carry on acting like a child stick him in the reserves, the man earns 45K a week and he cant even show up against Sunderland its an insult to the working man!

Rob Hotspur - No offence, but your talking sillyness...
He is just who we need, a 6"2 Target man to get on the end of some of those crosses...

Have faith in Ramos

This season will be just like last and Ramos is the new Martin Jol. He is clueless and bought too many new players which will take 12-18 months to gel and the other teams will leave us behind yet again. Spurs will never win the premiership in my lifetime and I am only 23.

Rob, dont worry just yet. Trouble is who is out there to buy that has European experience, a so called big name and regular for their country? There is very little to choose from, but things might not be so bad if they bag Arshavin to play with him and one other striker. Once they have got the strikers in place whoever they will be the season can start for them but I think you will find it will be a very slow start and a strong finish. As for Jol he did an excellent job but given time Ramos will get it right, but I would not swap now.

I m getting more worried by the day. First we sell two top class strikers, with a third blatantly departing. Then we sign a one tournament wonder/poor man's Jurgen Klinnsman for £16m. Now we are after the pedestrian Huntelaar. Bring back Martin Jol.
