Disappointment: David Weir had to settle for the bronze medal

Weir suffers his second gold setback

11.09.08

World champion wheelchair racer David Weir was feeling low today after his second disappointment in 24 hours at the Paralympics in Beijing.

Having finished runner-up in the T54 400metres last night, Weir returned to the Bird's Nest Stadium for the 5,000m final and had to settle for the bronze. At least he won his 800m heat.

But Britain's gold medal haul climbed to 25 with victories for swimmer David Roberts in the men's S7 400m freestyle, shooter Matt Skelholm and rowers Helene Raynsford and Tom Aggar.
