FIFA look at Heskey abuse claim

FIFA today launched a disciplinary investigation into complaints that England striker Emile Heskey was subjected to racist abuse by Croatia fans during last week's World Cup qualifier in Zagreb.

The world game's governing body acted after receiving a report from the Football Association last night.

It is only three months since UEFA fined Croatia's football federation nearly £10,000 after their fans were found guilty of "displaying a racist banner and showing racist conduct" at the Euro 2008 match with Turkey.

John Barnes was today named the new coach of Jamaica.

The 44-year-old former England winger, who was born in Kingston, will take up his duties in November after agreeing a one-year deal.

Barnes had an ill-fated spell as Celtic manager in the 1999-2000 season.
